Research in educational planning and management

Objective of the Visiting Fellows Programme

The objective of the Visiting Fellows Programme is to study theoretical, methodological and practical aspects of educational planning and management, and to contribute to IIEP’s training and research activities.

Visiting Fellows choose to focus their study on a specific theme or problem under the supervision of one or more specialists chosen by IIEP. The research theme should fit within IIEP research activities defined by its Medium-Term Plan. The Visiting Fellows may also contribute to IIEP training activities.

The design of the programme

The Visiting Fellows programme is addressed to persons with experience in educational planning and administration. The  programme is designed on an individual basis, and organized by the Institute in connection with clearly-defined training activities or research projects. Visiting Fellows are qualified persons able to carry out research by themselves and include:

  • Academics, with an established international reputation, or experts working in international or bilateral agencies;
  • Persons already enrolled in a programme organized by the Institute
    in connection with training activities or research projects;
  • embers of national training or research teams;
  • Persons who are participating in projects supported by IIEP.

IIEP's Documentation Center
The Institute provides Visiting Fellows with full facilities, including an office equipped with the latest technology, as well as full access to the Institute’s Documentation Center, which has a vast range of literature on educational planning and administration.

Duration of the Programme

Visiting Fellows usually spend from one to six months at the Institute. This period may be extended in exceptional cases, as for example:

  • for the duration of sabbatical leave
  • when the subject studied requires extended research
  • when the visit is part of a special programme organized by IIEP.

How to apply

An application form for admission can be downloaded and should be submitted along with a one page summary of the research proposal to IIEP.
