IIEP Strategic Seminars
Are there new challenges to educational planning?
Presented by Isabel Da Costa on Monday 8 December 2008
The tasks of an educational planner require interaction between the macro and micro levels, but also important technical knowledge and know-how during all the essential steps of this process: diagnosis, projection, and prospective proposals. The role of training is indispensable, but to be efficient, it must ensure that the implementation of the knowledge is possible after the training received. This means that the essential tools must be mastered by the outgoing trainee. All this is already known but educational planning implementation is taking time to be effective. Will new technologies be able to help taking up these old-new challenges?
Isabel da Costa has more than thirty years’ experience in educational planning. After having worked at the Portuguese Ministry of Education, she was Project Coordinator in the UNESCO Dakar Office (1987-1994) and Programme Specialist at IIEP (1994-2008). She has worked on a wide variety of themes, including educational costs and financing and micro-planning.
