Discussion forums provide an opportunity for participants to keep up to date on key issues in educational planning. Internet discussions present no geographical restrictions and allow anyone who has a connection to participate.
The forums, organized once a year, are often based on specific topics and related to recent IIEP research and publications. They are moderated by experts in the discipline, open to all interested persons, and run for four to six weeks.
Participants receive the necessary documents to read first, and then debate the issues raised by the forum moderator and other participants in an interactive format. Reports with a summary of the discussion forums are then made available on this page.
2009 Forum: Roles and capacities of the district offices in a decentralized context (in French language) |
This forum, organized for the members of the IIEP Alumni Network, took place from 28 September to 16 October 2009. Approximately 300 professionals from all over the world working in the field of education participated in this forum which was specially conceived to exchange ideas and share experiences on issues related to decentralization, in particular to the roles and capacities of the district offices in a decentralized context. IIEP has undertaken extensive research on this subject in the recent years, particularly in Benin, Guinea, Mali and Senegal. The debate run for three weeks, each one focusing on different sub-themes: i) The district offices in a decentralized context: missions, challenges and strategies; ii) The partnership between the district offices and the municipalities; and iii) The capacity building of district offices.
A report summing-up the main discussions of this forum will be published shortly. |
