Courses are conducted by IIEP programme specialists. Experts in particular subjects are also invited to take part in different sessions of the courses, providing knowledge and guidance to the participants.

Only institutions are invited to participate in IIEP distance courses. Individual applications are not accepted.

The institutions selected to participate in the courses identify a group of participants that work both independently and as part of the group. Participants have the opportunity to share, discuss and analyze information with colleagues who have different levels of responsibility working within the same institution.

IIEP distance courses also provide the opportunity to interact with participants from other countries, exchange ideas and learn from different experiences in the field of educational planning worldwide. Interaction in a multicultural collaborative environment is a key element of our distance courses.

Most of our distance courses last three-months. During this period, participants are invited to read and reflect upon the content of the course and to work collaboratively with their colleagues on different assignments. IIEP instructors provide regular feedback to the groups, prepare comments on the participants’ tasks and evaluate the performance of each group. Certificates are delivered upon completion of the course.

Course design

Our distance education courses are based on three learning techniques:

  • Independent study of materials and individual reflection on questions and exercises sent to the participants during the course
  • Team work to reinforce institutional capacity building. Participants work in scheduled group sessions on each module to discuss individual responses and prepare consolidated group submissions which are sent to the IIEP’s instructors for comments
  • Interaction with the IIEP’s instructors and other institutions through exchanging and sharing experiences.

Learning Material

Learning materials are based on IIEP research. They intend to stimulate reflection and keep participants informed about  new trends in the education planning field. All materials include concepts and theoretical elements as well as exercises and worldwide practical examples .

Our technology

In recognition of limited internet access in several member States, most of our distance education courses are completed through e-mail . A special e-mail account is created for each course. Participants also have access to a website available for each course where they will find all the material, exercises and comments from the instructors. Special sessions of the course include the use of new technologies for on-line discussions on specific topics.

For countries with better technological facilities, IIEP offers distance courses through the Moodle platform.
