Title: | Distance Education Programme ‘Education Sector Planning’ (ESP) II (registration in progress) | Date: | January to December 2010 | Description: | The programme is targeted at senior and middle level ministry staff working at the central and regional level - predominantly from ministries of education, but also from other ministries (social affairs, finance, etc.) and training institutions involved in education sector planning. The objective of the programme is to provide participants with technical and analytical skills required for the preparation and review of education sector plans. The programme comprises the following six modules 1) Contexts and Approaches in Educational Planning and Management 2) Statistics for Educational Planning 3) Education Sector Diagnosis 4) Analysis of policy options 5) Projections and Scenario Building 6) Implementation and monitoring of sector plan documents.
At the same time ESP II aims to enhance national training capacities in the thematic areas covered by associating a selected national training institution with its implementation and by accepting national trainers among the participants. | Countries: | Six African English Speaking countries | Language: | English

| | Title: | IIEP/UNESCO distance course on "Cost analysis in education. Key concepts and statistical tools" (registration closed) | Date: | 26 October- 18 December 2009 | Description: | The objective of this 8-week course is to strengthen the capacities of participants in the analysis of costs and spending on education in order to discuss the financial implications of development projects in education or to prepare budget estimates.
