IIPE-UNESCO
IIEP trainees celebrate the completion of the Advanced Training Programme in Paris, France.

Over the past year, education systems worldwide have faced unprecedented disruption to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. For professionals that are concerned about educational planning and management, the challenge now is to rebuild and address inequalities, so that today’s youth are prepared for the future. In this context, IIEP-UNESCO is pleased to announce that applications are now open for two of its flagship training programmes in educational planning and management. For the first time, professionals from development partners, non-governmental organizations, and national and international agencies are encouraged to apply.

IIEP’s Master’s level training programme expands for the global education community

The Advanced Training Programme (ATP) is now accepting applications for the 2021-2023 session.

In a rigorous and stimulating environment, participants will sharpen their technical capacities while also cultivating the planning and management skills needed to overcome the greatest challenges in education today. Our instructors, who are top experts in the field of educational planning and management, use a variety of learning methods, including one-on-one mentoring, group work, and plenary sessions.

The ATP starts on 13 September 2021 and includes a six-month online training, a four-month residential phase in Paris, France, and two final projects relevant to the participant’s education system. The programme can be completed in 17 months, or spread out during five years. A Master’s level equivalent certificate is awarded upon successful completion.

“We have redesigned our core training programme so it caters not only ministry of education officials, but also for professionals working for development partners, NGOs, national and international agencies. Our goal is for the variety of education actors to not only train together, but to work together, for the benefit of all children and youth today.”

Mioko Saito, head of IIEP training.

Offered in English and French, the programme covers the fundamentals of educational planning and management, from formulating policies, diagnosing education systems and plan preparation, implementation, and evaluation, to linking budgets and human resources. It also includes specialized training on how to use data and information for crisis-sensitive educational planning, teacher management, and designing education sector projects.

Who should apply:

  • Educational planners and managers involved in policy formulation and implementation,
  • Officials from education ministries around the world,
  • Professionals from other governmental bodies in charge of education matters,
  • Professionals working for development partners such as NGOs, national or international agencies contributing to education planning in UNESCO member states,
  • Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
