The use of indicators in monitoring higher education

This course is designed to equip educational planners and administrators with the skills needed to effectively exploit existing databases and to develop relevant indicators to review the status and monitor higher education policies and the functioning of national higher education systems.

The course will focus on:

• information requirements and the effective use of databases;
• the analysis of indicators and the development of a system of indicators for higher education;
• communication techniques to facilitate the transmission of information; and
• the use of indicators for the planning and monitoring of the higher education sector.

Participants’ profiles:

Experienced planners, directly concerned with the analysis and use of information for decision-making and monitoring higher education from English-speaking African countries. Ministries of (higher) education and higher education buffer organizations have been invited to form teams of three to five officials.
