Closing the Gender Gap: Act Now!
Progress and policies to achieve gender equality in education, employment, and entrepreneurship

The presentation will cover policy analysis and recommendations to achieve greater gender equality and women’s empowerment in the three “E”s (education, employment, and entrepreneurship) in OECD countries and emerging economies. Recent data will be presented on gender aspects of educational attainment, choices of study fields among young women and men, as well as evidence on occupational segregation, with a discussion on the possible reasons for such gender gaps, and policy proposals to close them. The presentation will also cover recent international public policy initiatives, such as the OECD Gender Recommendation and the work on gender in the context of the G20, where the increase in female labour force participation has become an important element of discussions to achieve strong, sustainable, and balanced growth.
