Training components and learning elements

The intern will be able to develop and exercise her/his skills in the following areas:

  • Editing and writing;
  • Critical thinking, analysis, synthesis, and summarizing;
  • Research in education and development;
  • Publishing; 
  • Working in an international environment;
  • Working within the UN context.

Description of the internship project(s)

The intern will have the opportunity to become familiar with research documents and technical materials produced by the UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP). He/she will support IIEP’s work within the Information Services unit. Under the supervision of the Editor, the intern will:

  • Review and revise or edit documents (publications, case studies, internal documents, etc.);
  • Provide support in drafting various short texts;
  • Input corrections to proofs, using InDesign;
  • Assist with other activities as required.

Competencies required

  • University student or recent graduate;
  • Mother-tongue English, with a good knowledge of French;
  • Excellent writing skills; 
  • Excellent reading and analytical skills;
  • Autonomy;
  • Curiosity, ability to work in a multicultural environment;
  • An understanding of education and development issues is a plus. 


  • Unpaid internship; 
  • Internship location: IIEP, Paris, France;
  • Travel costs to Paris not covered by IIEP;
  • Lunch tickets provided by IIEP (valid at the IIEP cafeteria); 
  • Reimbursement by IIEP for Métro transportation upon presentation of receipts.
