INTERNSHIP - PROGRAMME ON TEACHER MANAGEMENT

Training components and learning elements

The intern will be able to develop and exercise her/his skills in the following areas:

  • Social science research methods;
  • Literature review;
  • Teaching materials;
  • Web content management;
  • Working in an international environment;
  • Working within the UN context.

The intern will have the opportunity to support the work of the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP-UNESCO) on teacher management. Under the supervision of the Programme Specialist, the intern will:

  • Contribute to the development of a new research project within the framework of IIEP-UNESCO’s next medium term strategy;
  • Conduct an informative research on the political economy of teacher management and write a literature review;
  • Contribute to the writing of the syntheses of the research work on teacher careers;
  • Update of training materials and IIEP Web page on teacher management;
  • Participate in other programme activities as required.

Competences and profile required:

  • Master level
  • Excellent knowledge of English and French;
  • Very good editing, analytical and writing skills;
  • Research skills;
  • Rigour and method;
  • Autonomy and business spirit;
  • Curiosity, sociability, ability to work in a multicultural environment;
  • A general understanding of education and development issues.

Conditions

  • Unpaid Internship. Lunch tickets provided by IIEP (valid only at the IIEP Cafeteria)
  • Reimbursement of transport cost (Pass Navigo) upon presentation of receipts.
  • Place of internship: IIEP, Paris 16ème.

Additional information

In 2015, IIEP launched a new research project on reforms regarding teacher career management. This is coming to an end. At the same time, within its new medium- term strategy (2018-2022), IIEP needs to identify new research areas related to teacher management. The work of IIEP aims at underlining the trends, challenges and major policy options for staff management in the education sector.
