26 ATP trainees from all over the world received participation certificates at the closing ceremony in Paris.

Education planners from Afghanistan, Cambodia, Kuwait, Liberia and South Sudan were among a class of trainees from around the world who received certificates for completing the residential phase of International Institute for Educational Planning’s Advanced Training Programme on 27 June.

IIEP’s unique Advanced Training Programme (ATP) is an intensive 9-month course, of which 6 months are held in Paris, which provides those in the business of education with the A to Z on educational planning and management.

“I and my fellow trainees are really proud to have taken part in this course because it has given us the in-depth knowledge and the skills to take back home to our countries to help contribute towards creating a stronger education system for children and young people” Elizabeth Dicho, Primary School Inspector from South Sudan and a representative of ATP trainees for 2013/14, said.

The trainees were presented with a participation certificate in the presence of Mr Svein Osttveit, Director of the Executive Office of the Education Sector, UNESCO, and the Acting Director of IIEP, Suzanne Grant Lewis, at the closing ceremony of the residential phase of the ATP at IIEP Headquarters in Paris.

The ATP is comprised of three components which transfer the skills that are the key to building stronger education systems; Education Sector Planning focuses on the skills and competencies which form the basis for educational planning and management. Specialized Courses Programmeexamines the analysis of information for decision-making, planning & management covers operational planning and implementation, and in preparation of projects trainees demonstrate and apply their newly acquired skills in a professional project or an applied research paper.

“We’ve had great success with the ATP trainees for the 2013/14 course. They have worked really hard to achieve good results, and we are confident that the skills they have learned during the course and from each other will be successfully implemented and shared with education planners in their home countries” Patricia Dias Da Graca, Acting Head of Training at IIEP said.

With more than 5,000 education planners from over 160 nationalities having taken part in training programmes over several decades, IIEP/UNESCO constantly updates its training programmes to meet the needs of a fast-changing world. The training courses on offer are unique, grounded in practice and built on rigorous research and significant operational experience.

The Institute offers a wide array of courses, both in residential mode and at a distance, ranging from two-week professional development courses to the comprehensive 9-month intensive Advanced Training Programme (ATP).
