Latin America and the Caribbean

Trevor Samson/World Bank

IIEP has a strong presence in Latin America and the Caribbean. Its office in Buenos Aires, opened in April 1997, functions as a regional hub. A certain number of activities are also organized directly from Paris.

The most important of IIEP’s many training courses in the Latin America and Caribbean area is the regional course on ‘Educational policy planning and formulation’ held at the IIEP-Buenos Aires office. Every year, education specialists come from all over the region to attend this course, which corresponds to the core of the Advanced Training Programme in Paris. Successful candidates may continue with the Master’s option in Paris. IIEP’s Buenos Aires office is constantly called upon to provide technical assistance.

IIEP is increasingly developing its information services in Latin America. RedEtis (a network for education, labour and social insertion) and SITEAL (an information system on educational trends) are two key examples
