Education Strategies for a Fast-Changing World: the Role of Educational Planning and Management
IIEP Summer School 2013 for education leaders
In these times of economic and social change, more is being asked of education systems. They are expected to create an employable workforce, strengthen a country’s competitiveness, respond to the social and economic expectations of young people, contribute to overcoming inequalities, and prevent conflict through the enculturation of common values.
Fulfilling such expectations requires effective policies, planning, and management. Success depends not only upon the knowledge and skills of a Ministry’s technical staff, but also – more crucially – on the effective organization of planning functions and the far-sighted leadership of senior decision-makers, supported by the Directors of Planning.
It is in this context that IIEP has organized the 2013 session of its Summer School on Education Strategies for a Fast-Changing World: the Role of Educational Planning and Management. This event took place in Paris from 1 to 5 July 2013.
Building on IIEP’s 50 years of experience, this Summer School brought together Directors of Planning and senior Ministry decision-makers.
