Identifying new trends

The Observatory programme allows IIEP to look ahead in changing circumstances, and provide feedback so that programmes and activities can be modified or renewed as necessary.Within this framework, IIEP conducts short-term research to allow for:

• monitoring of new patterns in the field of educational planning and of trends in educational assistance that affect educational planning;
• identification of new challenges stemming from emerging social and economic transformations in different parts of the world, and their consequences for educational policy and planning;
• analysis of different strategies for capacity development in national ministries of education, at other levels of education systems and, as appropriate, in cross-national agencies.
