IIEP has provided support to countries in the process of launching public expenditure tracking surveys (PETS) in education for a number of years now. It has also published the book Public Expenditure Tracking Surveys in Education (also available in French, see link below), and trained more than 200 people worldwide within this framework.

In 2011, the Institute was invited by UNICEF, and in cooperation with the government of Burkina Faso, to provide technical assistance to design and implement its first PETS. It has provided methodological and technical advice to the national team in charge of the practical implementation of the field work. This included the participation in a methodological workshop from 10 to 15 September 2011, and the provision of detailed comments on various documents produced as part of the preparatory phase of the survey.

In 2012, IIEP will continue with its assistance, by commenting on the data collected, completing the analysis of these data and the first draft of a synthesis report. It will also participate in a dissemination workshop to be held during the first Semester of 2012.
