IIEP awards certificates to teams from Jordan and Kenya for online course on crisis-sensitive planning

05 October 2018

IIEP met with members of the Ministries of Education (MoE) last week in Amman, Jordan,  and Nairobi, Kenya, to award country teams that participated in the Institute’s recent online course ‘Educational planning for crisis risk reduction and forced displacement’ with certificates of successful completion. The nine-week course was held from 2 May to 3 July 2018.

The course aimed to reinforce the capacity of participants to analyse the impact of risks and integrate measures to address the needs of displaced populations in national education sector planning processes.

It consisted of six modules, which addressed crisis risk reduction and the education needs of displaced populations in the different phases of the planning cycle, complemented by an introductory module, and a final module on the institutionalization of crisis risk reduction in education. The course materials and assignments were designed to be practice-oriented and directly applicable to participants’ day-to-day work.

Both country teams participated in the course as part of IIEP’s three-year programme with the European Commission’s Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI). Additional country-level technical cooperation work on crisis-sensitive planning is being undertaken by IIEP in Jordan and Kenya as part of the programme.

The online course on crisis-sensitive educational planning will be offered in French in 2019, from 3 April to 11 June. For more information on this course, please contact plan4resilience@iiep.unesco.org.
