The Regional Forum on Education Policy is an annual event that brings together education policy-makers and key stakeholders from Latin American and Caribbean countries in a space for dialogue, consultation, and reflection.

The 2023 edition of the Regional Forum will be held virtually and will be jointly organized by the UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP), UNESCO Santiago, the UNESCO International Bureau of Education (IBE-UNESCO), the UNESCO GEM Report, and the Future of Learning and Innovation Team at UNESCO’s Education Sector.

This high-level event will be attended by education policy-makers from Latin America and the Caribbean; education policy experts from UNESCO and other sub-regional, regional, and international organizations; representatives of education systems, and experts from civil society organizations.

In line with the policy implications and the implementation strategies for the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 of the Education 2030 Agenda, this year’s Regional Forum will focus on how digital technologies can contribute to the transformation of education systems in Latin America and the Caribbean. In a regional context where educational equality and quality are still not guaranteed, UNESCO, through its co-organizing offices, seeks to provide a platform to enrich this dialogue and advance in building more flexible and inclusive educational systems to close the existing gaps.

Moreover, this edition will constitute the first space to continue the reflections initiated during the Global Launch of the 2023 GEM Report on Technology in Education, which took place on 26–28 July in Montevideo, Uruguay.

The live broadcast of the event’s opening session and panels, together with other resources, will be available on the Forum's website. To access this content, please register here.
